Sweet Berry Farms

A few weeks ago I headed out to Marble Falls with some friends to go Strawberry Picking.  I did it back in 2007 about 2 months before Emma was born. Then again in 2008 when Emma was 10 months old.  We missed it last year because of working full time.  I was anxiously awaiting strawberry season to open at Sweet Berry Farms.  I had to work that night but it was SO worth the drive.  I was the most beautiful day and a gorgeous drive into the country with all the wildflowers in bloom.

Emma absolutely loved picking strawberries.  I taught her to pick the red strawberries. "You pick the red ones, the green ones are not right (ripe)". She was very serious about finding them and even starting helping my friend Sara find them.  Emma carried the "heavy" baskets around moving them from place to place. At the end we enjoyed a strawberry popscicle and ice cream.  The only bad part to the day was having to rush off becasue I had to go to work :(

Be Safe & Mommy works nights

So we are all getting adjusted to mommy returning to the night shift.  I had been preparing emma for about a week that mommy would be going to work when Emma, Daddy, & the Sun are all going nite nite. She seemed on board with it.  Having to wear a uniform & badge helps because Emma has learned to associate it with me going to work.  She will tell you that I take care of "SICK PEOPLE" as my work.  We had dinner and then I went to get ready. She made sure I had my phone & badge. Then she got my keys, walked me out to the car, & unlocked it.  She was waving goodbye & blowing kisses to me saying have a good night. The funny part is then she started saying "BE SAFE" with a thumbs up gesture. Where did she learn this one??? Now it is part of her good bye ritual. She is so serious when she says it too!

Emma has done fine with me leaving its coming home that is the problem.  I came home thursday morning and she threw a fit, wanting to stay home with me.  Its hard convincing her that I needed to sleep for a little while. Bribery has been necessary!  Luckily I picked her up at 3p when a classmate's parent had rented the snow cone truck for an older sibling's bday.  I was able to buy her a snow cone without any extra effort!  The truck is really cool playing tropical music and is colorful with a penguin on it. Emma thought it was the neatest thing on the planet. I was jealous that someone else had thought of that idea before me. I am considering doing that for emma's class if her school still allows it. There were some issues with the administration. If not it will be pizza for lunch & cupcakes for snack.
